An independent automation engineering company based in Slovakia, working across Europe and North Africa.

What we do

HAL Automation programs and commissions automated production equipment: assembly, welding, bonding, screwdriving, injection-moulding automation, press and stamping lines, and the robot cells within them. We work for machine builders, system integrators and manufacturers, and are equally used to working to a client's standard inside their project or taking a scope end to end.

More than ten years of that work sits behind the company, in nine countries. Most of it has been in automotive production, and it also covers hydrogen equipment, building materials and other industrial manufacturing. End customers have included Stellantis, Renault, Faurecia, OP Mobility, Saint-Gobain, Opel, Novares and McPhy.

Both sides of the work matter. Programming informed by commissioning tends to anticipate how a machine behaves in practice, and commissioning informed by programming allows problems to be solved at their source rather than worked around.

How we take on work

Scope is agreed before work begins, and we are clear about what a given package includes. Where a project calls for more than one discipline at once, or more capacity than a schedule allows, we bring in engineers we have worked with previously, declared in advance and under the same confidentiality terms.

Clients deal directly with the engineers writing the software, and the same people stay with the project through commissioning.

Offline, on site, or both

Simulation allows the large majority of a program to be written and tested before the hardware exists, which takes that phase off the critical path. Where it suits a project, we offer it as a package on its own.

Where it does not, the work follows the usual sequence: program, travel to the plant, commission, hand over. Much of our reference list was delivered that way. The two approaches are complementary rather than alternatives.

Working with integrators

A large part of our work has come through system integrators, and we are used to working discreetly inside someone else's project: their naming standard, their library, their documentation template, their name on the machine.

What the client receives in return is engineers who have done comparable work before, on comparable machines, for customers with comparable acceptance criteria.
